Project Technician/Site Inspector

We have an opportunity for a Project Technician to join our Auckland team. Whether you come from a structural or geotechnical background, or you’re a builder with strong construction monitoring experience, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring our projects are delivered with accuracy and quality.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives working independently across multiple sites, you’ll be fully supported by our wider team and will report directly to our Structural Team Leader.

About the role
As our Project Technician/Site Inspector, you will travel across the region conducting inspections on a wide range of projects. You will be responsible for comparing structural design drawings and specifications with onsite construction. Identifying and communicating any discrepancies between consented plans and what is being built, and communicate this to our Structural Engineering team.
Liaising with our Structural Engineering team and external stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely communication.
Documenting and reporting your observations clearly, contributing across all stages of construction monitoring.
Building strong working relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and Council representatives while working autonomously day-to-day.
This is a hands-on, field-based role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, site-based work, and representing Kirk Roberts on site.

About you
A Civil Engineering Diploma (Structural focus), BEng (Hons) in Structural Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
Extensive practical experience in a similar role, including strong working knowledge of CM3-level observations and construction monitoring.
A sound understanding of New Zealand Building Codes, standards, and statutory requirements.
Strong attention to detail and excellent planning skills, with the ability to produce high-quality documentation independently.
Confident communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to work effectively with Structural Engineers, Construction Managers, Site Foremen, Council Officers and other project stakeholders.
A self-driven, reliable working style, comfortable managing your own schedule.
